A report reveals how Paramount plans to approach DC Studios if their merger with Warner Bros. Discovery goes through.

Every fandom owned by Warner Bros. Discovery is in five-alarm fire mode now that it seems Paramount will be the company successfully taking over the studio in a merger. Most relevant to this site is DC Studios, and what Paramount CEO David Ellison plans to do with co-chairs James Gunn and Peter Safran if the merger goes through.

David Ellison has been an open partisan when it comes to running Paramount, albeit his focus has largely been on its news broadcast divisions like CBS. While it’s likely that Ellison’s main priority following the merger will be pulling CNN further to the right, that doesn’t mean its movie divisions will be safe, with many speculating that James Gunn and Peter Safran will be kicked from DC Studios due to the political stances of their filmography.

Is James Gunn Out At DC Studios?

Though it seems fans shouldn’t be worried, at least in the short-term. A report by Bloomberg reveals that David Ellison does plan to keep the creative teams in both Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO in place following the merger. This suggests that the Paramount CEO has no plans to fire the DC Studios heads following the merger.

However, that doesn’t mean that James Gunn won’t leave DC Studios. As stated, Gunn has some major political disagreements with David Ellison. Paramount also has a “blacklist” of actors they won’t work with, such as Mark Ruffalo and Elliot Page, due to their support for Palestine. It’s possible friction caused by this list and potential DC stars could serve as a breaking point for the two.
