Will Patrick Stewart return as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?

Super Bowl Sunday was filled with surprises, and we’re not even talking about the Big Game. As is tradition, major studios took advantage of the millions of viewers who had their eyes glued to the screen by debuting new footage of some of the hottest movies. Marvel Studios dropped the second look at the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel online and then released a truncated look at the film for the Big Game.

Both promos feature a mysterious character with a British accent uttering “We should tell him the truth,” as Doctor Strange walks in with handcuffs (that deserves a whole other article). The room features a number of important-looking chairs propped up on a platform, which has much thinking that this is the headquarters of Marvel’s Illuminati. Who happens to be British and a part of the Illuminati? Professor X.

Rumors have persisted for quite some time that Patrick Stewart would return as Professor X for the Doctor Strange sequel and the latest trailer all but solidifies it. Of course, nothing has been confirmed but Patrick Stewart’s voice clearly resembles the one heard in the trailer. Having Stewart return as Professor X would certainly be an interesting choice, especially because the character received quite a beautiful farewell in 2017’s Logan.

Here is the synopsis for Marvel Studios’ next film:

The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the upcoming movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.
