Promo art for Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reveals two variants of the titular hero.

Following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) finds himself in a pickle with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The highly-anticipated sequel follows the titular Avenger as he embarks on perhaps his darkest journey yet, exploring the mysterious Multiverse filled with alternate realities.

In this new promo art for the sequel, we see Stephen Strange alongside at least two different variants of himself. One in particular, has been showcased in both What If…? and the first teaser trailer: Doctor Strange Supreme. We also get a look at what appears to be Defender Strange. You can check out the promo art down below:

When it comes to the highly-anticipated sequel, we already know that director Sam Raimi will likely bring on his horror sensibilities to the film, much like he did with his original Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire. Given the terrifying turbulence of the Multiverse, fans will get to see Benedict Cumberbatch exhibit his world-class acting skills in playing different variants of his titular protagonist. Seeing all of those elements combined is proving once again that the film will be one of the more intriguing entries in the MCU thus far.

Here is the synopsis for Marvel Studios’ upcoming sequel:

“In Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.”

Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg and Rachel McAdams.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, 2022. Meanwhile, you can see the Sorcerer in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is currently playing in theaters now.
