Is Patty Jenkins directing the Wonder Woman reboot? The director gives her thoughts on making a return to the DC Universe.
With a Wonder Woman reboot officially in development for the DC Universe, there’s been a lot of questions about who the studio will bring on as the director. A lot of names have been thrown into the ring by excited fans. Chloe Zhao, Greta Gerwig, and Cathy Yan have all been floated as potential helmers for the project.
Though perhaps at the top of peoples’ minds for the reboot is Patty Jenkins, who served as the director for Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman duology in the prior DC Universe. It’s clear that Jenkins has some connection with James Gunn and Peter Safran, as there was a time where Wonder Woman 3 was seemingly greenlit prior to being cancelled (although it’s unclear if that was simply a miscommunication by one or both parties).
Is Patty Jenkins Directing The Wonder Woman Reboot?
Patty Jenkins weighed in on the possibility of returning to helm the DC Universe reboot during a recent chat with Marvel Cinematic Universe News. The director remarked that she’s thoroughly enjoying her current projects, such as an untitled project with Universal and the LEGO Group. However, she didn’t entirely write off the idea of joining the Wonder Woman reboot.
“At the moment, I am so excited with what I am doing, and it’s always good to do something new. [I] loved making superhero movies…you never know, but I am having a good time.”
Ultimately, with the DC Universe trying to take things in a new direction, it’s not likely that Patty Jenkins will be enlisted for the Wonder Woman reboot. Though it’s certainly possible that the director is brought on for another project given her success in the genre. However, whether or not that comes to life is a question for years down the line.
