Patty Jenkins Reveals Animated ‘Wonder Woman’ Spin-Off Is Being Considered

The Amazons might be getting the animated treatment!

Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins recently revealed an animated series centered on the Amazons is being considered.

Ever since the success of both Wonder Woman and Aquaman, we know Warner Bros. is looking to capitalize on the individual franchises within the DC Extended Universe. On the Aquaman side, a spin-off on The Trench in currently in development with writers Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald along with an animated Aquaman series coming to HBO Max.

In the Wonder Woman universe, there are plans for a spin-off movie focused on the Amazons that was pitched by Geoff Johns, but it sounds like there are more plans with the world of Themyscira. In a recent interview with Empire, Patty Jenkins revealed an animated series for the Amazons might also be in the cards. It’s likely that the animated series would also be a part of HBO Max like the upcoming Aquaman series.

Full details on the Wonder Woman 1984 plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord. Wonder Woman was last seen in Zack Snyder’s DC superhero team-up movie Justice League.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.
