Marvel Star Paul Bettany Reveals A Surprising Detail About Vision’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Death

Wait, what?

Avengers Infinity War Vision Paul Bettany WandaVision

Avengers: Infinity War saw the death of Vision at the hands of the Mad Titan Thanos. However, according to Paul Bettany, one of the Marvel’s most emotional scenes wasn’t exactly planned.

Death has always been kept a secret in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with actors often not even knowing who was going to die until they arrived on set. The same seems to be true for Avengers: Infinity War, with Paul Bettany only learning of Vision’s tragic end on set. However, according to the actor during a recent appearance at Megacon in Orlando, not even the Russo Brothers had a plan for the scene.

“The Russo Brothers came up to us [Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen] and said, ‘Hey, listen, can you just improvise this scene?’ And I go, ‘What? Improvise being a robot getting killed?’ I’ve got no frame of reference! And Lizzie was just laughing at it, and we’re so relaxed with each other that… I don’t know how it would’ve worked other than that, because we both really trust each other and, somehow, we got to something that worked. “

It’s shocking that the Russo Brothers would allow such a pivotal scene in Avengers: Infinity War to be left up to improv. However, it seems their faith in Paul Bettany was well placed, with Vision’s death being one of the most impactful moments in the entire MCU. Though with Bettany potentially returning to the MCU soon with the rumored Vision Quest series, it’s possible fans will get even more impactful scenes in the future!

What Is Marvel’s Vision Quest

The folks at GiantFreakingRobot were the first to say that Vision is getting a television series back in 2021, following the final episode of the Disney Plus series WandaVision. Developed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision followed Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany’s Vision living in an imaginary town known as Westview. It ended with the creation of White Vision, with his fate being one of the show’s unresolved plot threads.

While Paul Bettany’s Vision has been missing for more than a year now, Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff was featured in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was released this past May. The movie earned $955.7 million at the worldwide box office, making it one of the highest-grossing features of the year.
