Paul Dano transforms into The Riddler in a creepy new concept design that shows off what the DC Comics villain could look like in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.
Robert Pattinson’s The Batman has quickly become one of the most anticipated releases of 2021 for some fans and although many are hoping to see footage from the superhero film at DC FanDome later this month it’s not clear if footage will be unveiled at the event. For now, a creepy new fan edit imagines what Paul Dano’s The Riddler could look like on the big screen. It’s a vastly different costume than the outfits we’ve seen on the big screen in Batman Forever and on TV with Gotham.
The artwork comes from digital artist William Gray on Instagram, and depicts The Riddler with a much more practical outfit rather than the suit and bowler hat costume that fans are used to. Since the villain in the comics is constantly setting up elaborate traps and riddles for the Dark Knight to solve, a tailored suit isn’t exactly the most suitable thing to wear. But this artwork pictures Paul Dano in a weathered dark green and brown jacket with a hood, with question marks scribbled across the lapels and the rest of the coat. Dano previously opened up about the role, calling it “something fun.” It’s definitely more of an intense look that would suit the new version of Gotham in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman. You can check out the concept below.

Plot details for The Batman are being kept under lock and key, but we know that the project will revolve around Robert Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector. The Batman will also feature the hero making use of his detective skills more than what we’ve seen before in previous iterations of the character. It is also expected to be the first installment to a new trilogy starring Pattinson as Batman.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news regarding Bill Skarsgard, Robert Pattinson and The Batman universe, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content.
