Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors has joined Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man 3 as Kang the Conqueror.

Jonathan Majors has joined the cast of Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man 3 as time-travelling villain Kang the Conqueror, according to a report from Deadline. Majors is currently delivering an incredible performance in HBO’s Lovecraft Country which sees his character face off against horrific racism in the 1950s as well as supernatural threats inspired by the books of H.P. Lovecraft. Now, Majors will seemingly become a villain himself in Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man 3. Michael Douglas had previously teased that news about the sequel would arrive soon, but the casting news isn’t what fans were expecting at all.

Deadline’s report mentions that sources at Marvel claim that Jonathan Majors will play the villain, although the studio had no official comment. Kang the Conqueror’s introduction into the MCU through Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man 3 could easily set the stage for the Fantastic Four since the villain is possibly a descendent of Reed Richards. Of course, his introduction in the sequel could also mean Kang the Conqueror could be the next big threat for the heroes to face in a future Avengers movie, since he’s fought the majority of the universe at one point or another.

It’ll be interesting to see if Walton Goggins’ character also reappears, since director Peyton Reed teased that the actor would return to the MCU. Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors is clearly shaping up to be an actor to keep an eye on, since he also previously starred in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods. What do you make of the Ant-Man 3 news? Do you like Jonathan Majors in Lovecraft Country? Do you think Kang the Conqueror is a great choice for the MCU going forward? Sound-off in the comments below!
