Is Ant-Man coming back?

Is Ant-Man finally making his return to the MCU? Paul Rudd gives his thoughts on if he’s set to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film.

It’s safe to say that Paul Rudd hasn’t had the easiest time in the MCU. While everyone knows that Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was one of the franchise’s biggest bombs, his prior solo outings weren’t the best received in their time. The original Ant-Man was the poster child of the MCU being “boring” and “sticking to their formula” when it released alongside Doctor Strange (Which, yes, was also criticized in its time). Ant-Man and The Wasp fared even worse, being largely considered the worst MCU film despite the time it came out.

This spotty record has left fans wondering if Marvel might leave the character in the past leading into their new era of the MCU. After all, Paul Rudd has already had his shot at a trilogy, and it’s clear the studio is looking for a fresh break leading into the next era of their franchise. And given that his daughter is set to be a key member of the Young Avengers, Ant-Man could still make cameos despite being mostly left on the backburner.

Will Ant-Man Be In Avengers: Doomsday?

This topic was broached to Paul Rudd during a recent interview with Collider. Though given how long the actor has now been in the MCU, he wasn’t exactly jumping to give up any information about his future as the character. When directly asked if he’s expected to return as Ant-Man in Avengers: Doomsday, all Rudd said was that the Russo Brothers have his number if they wanted him to appear.

“As far as the Russos, they have my number. They know where I’m at, and that’s all I can say. I don’t really know how to play these things.”

Of course, with Paul Rudd being a massive star in his own right, and Ant-Man having strong ties to the larger story of the Multiverse Saga, it’s all-but-confirmed that he’ll appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Though beyond that film, his future as the character certainly remains up in the air, with it likely depending on how well his role is perceived in the upcoming film and if they can find a new creative partner for the next installment.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
