Pedro Pascal's one issue!

Does Pedro Pascal regret playing Maxwell Lord? The blockbuster titan reveals that he still regrets one aspect of playing the villain in Wonder Woman 1984.

It’s safe to say that Wonder Woman 1984 isn’t one of the most beloved superhero projects. Expectations were high coming off 2017’s Wonder Woman. However, a weak story and even weaker performances left fans hollow coming out of the character’s second outing. Though there is one aspect that fans generally agree was fun enough: Pedro Pascal’s performance as Maxwell Lord.

The performance came just as Pedro Pascal’s rise to stardom began to really take form, with his role in Wonder Woman 1984 being a fond memory that most people don’t even realize was him. However, it seems as though playing Maxwell Lord wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. During a recent appearance on the LADBible Youtube channel, Pascal admitted he absolutely hated how he looked without his trademark facial hair.

“I grow such shit facial hair,” The actor remarked “But if I were to shave it all off, I really look very [awful]. Strongly disagree with a clean-shaven me.”

“I was so appalled by the way I look in Wonder Woman 1984. I loved the movie, but I was so appalled by the way that I looked that I never have gone back unless it were completely necessary,”

Pedro Pascal’s One Regret As Maxwell Lord

While it is a shame that Pedro Pascal wasn’t the biggest fan of his look as Maxwell Lord, that doesn’t make his portrayal of the character any less iconic. His clean-shaven face has been splattered all over the net with his “But it can be better” meme format, likely serving as the longest-lasting cultural impact of the entirety of Wonder Woman 1984.

Luckily for Pedro Pascal, it’s likely that Wonder Woman 1984 will be the last time he plays the character. Sean Gunn is already set to play Maxwell Lord in the new DC Universe reboot. Funnily enough, the newest take on the character does have facial hair! So if Pascal would’ve been able to hold on just a bit longer, it’s possible all his problems with the performance would’ve been solved.

Wonder Woman reboot is officially in the works at DC Studios. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
