New Photo Shows PlayStation 5 Controller Next To PS4’s DualShock 4

The PlayStation 5 is set to launch this Holiday season.

PlayStation 5 DualSense PS4

A brand new photo of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense next to the PS4’s DualShock 4 shows just how big the next-gen controller will be.

The next generation of gaming is upon us and while we won’t be having the fanfare of live press conferences and tech demos, we still have great opportunities to see the latest consoles get shown off. On Friday, Geoff Keighley, the informal spokesman of video games, took a deep dive into the Playstation 5’s DualSense controller. Playstation’s controllers have always been titled DualShock so this will be a welcome change for the Sony console.

During his time with the Playstation 5’s controller, Keighley sat the DualSense right beside the PS4’s DualShock 4 to show off just how big the new controller will be. The Playstaion 5’s controller is slightly larger than the PS4’s DualShock 4 and definitely feels more futuristic and luxurious than its predecessor.

The overall DualShock design hasn’t changed much throughout the years, with the most notable innovation being the DualShock 4’s touch pad. The PlayStation 5’s controller looks to be a slick overhaul that retains the PS4’s sensibilities whilst pushing the controller to its limits. The PlayStation 5 controller has a built-in microphone and the L2 and R2 buttons are adaptive, which give creators full liberty in how they can be used and felt during game play. And while that’s all exciting, the biggest change has to be the predominantly white color scheme that the new PlayStation controller is sporting. It’s a welcome change and this side by side comparison of both controllers really shows how PlayStation is moving the familiar controller forward.
