Wonder Woman 1984 Black Widow

A new poll found that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 and Cate Shortland’s Black Widow are the most anticipated movies of 2020.

It seems that fans are most excited to see Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 and Cate Shortland’s Black Widow in 2020 according to a new poll from Fandango. The ticketing service asked 2000 users in the final week of December about the films in 2020 that they’re most excited to watch. It’s refreshing to see that the top four spots were all filled by films directed by women, with Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 and Cate Shortland’s Black Widow grabbing first and second place respectively. Fandango correspondent Nikki Novak discussed the impressive list in a statement.

“As we head into the next decade, the new cinematic offerings look promising, with inspiring stories and new definitions of the word ‘hero’. Adventure-seeking fans can’t wait for the kick-ass leads of ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ ‘Black Widow,’ and ‘Mulan’ — all films directed by women — to command the big screen. And with invigorating, fresh fare like Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ‘In the Heights,’ Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ and Pixar’s ‘Soul,’ the 2020 box office will offer a cornucopia of welcome surprises.”

In third and fourth place were Marvel’s Eternals directed by Chloe Zhao and Niki Caro’s Mulan. Given the monumental success of the first Wonder Woman film alongside the many years fans have waited for a Black Widow solo movie, it shouldn’t really be surprising that they top the list. Also on Fandango’s most anticipated movies of 2020 list were No Time To Die, A Quiet Place 2 and Birds of Prey. Nikki the full list below.
