Lionsgate has released a behind the scenes featurette from the upcoming Power Rangers reboot in which the cast takes you inside the reimagining that features a much darker and more mature take on the Rangers as opposed to the colorful and campy children’s series.
The new film features redesigns of Dinozords and the classic suits worn by the Rangers as well as whole new look for the villain Rita Repulsa who seems to be harnessing the power of the Dragon coin for evil as she now sports a green and gold suit. Power Rangers will also tackle real teenage issues as the characters face issues such as bullying while they struggle to find their place in the world.
You can watch the new featurette below.
The film stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger), RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger), Becky G as Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor (Black Ranger), Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Bill Hader as Alpha 5, and Bryan Cranston as Zordon. Here’s the official synopsis:
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
Power Rangers hits theaters this Friday, March 24.
