Netflix is officially working with Hasbro on a Power Rangers shared universe.

After the 2017 Power Rangers reboot failed to make a commercial impact, Hasbro took things back to the drawing board to help improve the storied franchise’s chances among the modern pop culture and superhero obsessed-landscape. Just last year, however, Entertainment One was purchased by Hasbro for $4 billion, positioning the toy manufacturer as a leader in traditional content and cinematic creation.

Now, the company has struck a deal with Netflix to provide a wide variety of content, especially when it comes to the Power Rangers IP. Last year it was reported that The End of the F****** World scribe Jonathan Entwistle would be spearheading the Power Rangers shared universe, and now EOne’s President of Global Television Michael Lombardo has provided an update to Deadline.

Since we set up Power Rangers with Jonathan, we pitched really a whole-world approach.”

“It’s not just one show, it is shows followed by films, some kids’ programming. We have found a great writing partner for him, they are off. Knock on wood, Netflix is excited, we’re excited, we hope to have some news soon.”

Power Rangers has always thrived on the small screen, so it makes sense that Netflix is the outfit that Hasbro is setting the franchise up with it. The franchise has quickly evolved as years have gone on, with various Powers Rangers iterations, so having Netflix’s diverse subscriber base should do good for Hasbro. It remains to be seen if other Hasbro properties like Transformers or G.I. Joe ever make their way onto the streaming service.

Here is the synopsis for the 2017 reboot:

SABAN’S POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Directed by Dean Israelite, the film stars Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, Ludi Lin, and Elizabeth Banks. The film is now available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
