The Haunting of Bly Manner star Rahul Kohli clarified the rampant rumors that he is playing a live-action Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels in The Mandalorian.

The upcoming season of The Mandalorian is shrouded in secrecy with only one week to go until the first episode premieres on Disney Plus. Leading up to this season, it seems every character from Star Wars Rebels and beyond have been rumored to be making the jump to live-action after the reports of Rosario Dawson joining the series as Ahsoka Tano. Ezra Bridger is one of those characters who has been rumored to appear and many fans have speculated that Rahul Kohli might play him after various teases from The Haunting of Bly Manor star on Twitter.

Rahul Kohli cleared the air in regards to him showing up as a live-action Ezra Bridger in The Mandalorian during a recent interview with Inverse. As it turns out, Kohli was just trolling Star Wars fans on Twitter after hearing rumors of a casting call for a live-action Ezra Bridger:

“I was trolling. I heard rumors that there was a casting call looking for a live-action Ezra that was looking for Asian actors in their late twenties, early thirties. I had watched a bit of Rebels that morning, so it was fresh in my mind. I was going to the gym and I thought I’d fire off a cheeky tweet.”

However, Rahul Kohli admitted that he was surprised by the positive reaction on social media after sharing the Ezra Bridger teases:

“[When] that Ezra stuff went out, the outpouring of support, positivity, and celebration felt so good. It sucked that it was b*llocks, but it just made me say, ‘This fandom is awesome.’ The fanart came out, even people who knew I was trolling weren’t upset. I found that really refreshing after what’s happened in recent years. If this were a real announcement, it wasn’t met with any kind of racism, just complete and utter joy. It was lovely. It was just a shame it was bullsh*t.”
