Regal Cinemas has once again delayed opening their theaters due to ongoing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
Like many businesses, the film industry had to fundamentally change the way it operated as the coronavirus spread throughout the world. Productions for films were shut down and release dates were pushed back and the conditions began to worsen. Movie theaters, in particular, were hit hard by this as they were forced to shut down completely. Now the reopening dates for Regal Cinemas has been delayed once again.
Originally Regal Cinemas and other movie theater chains were set to reopen in late July. Originally the theater chain was set to reopen on July 10th but then pushed back its reopening date to the 17th and once again to the 31st. Everyone had hoped that the coronavirus pandemic would have cleared up in the United States by then, with theater companies determined to have their theaters opened by the time Tenet and Mulan were due for their theatrical releases. With coronavirus cases now reaching record highs in the United States, however, Tenet had delayed its release date indefinitely and Regal Cinemas has scrapped its planned release date.
Regal Cinemas’ website notably says “Regal Reopening Date Coming Soon” above the company’s plan to ensure the health and safety of its staff and customers. Comicbook.com confirmed that this was a new development and not an older post. Regal Cinemas has yet to announce a new reopening date.
