Acclaimed actor Ed Harris is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the upcoming Disney Plus series Wonder Man. The news was announced by Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider during the latest episode of The Hot Mic podcast.

A four-time Academy Award nominee, Ed Harris is expected to play Neal Saroyan, the Hollywood agent of Simon Williams, a.k.a. Wonder Man. Initially, Bob Odenkirk was being considered for the role, but it seems that Harris has secured the coveted part.

Despite his connection to Wonder Man, played by Yahya Abdul Matteen II, Neal Saroyan could potentially be an antagonist throughout the series. This is in line with the character’s portrayal in the comics, where he is known for sending villains to fight Williams as a publicity stunt.

Who is Marvel’s Wonder Man?

Wonder Man is a superhero from the Marvel Comics universe with a unique backstory. Created by Stan Lee and Don Heck in 1964, Wonder Man was originally a successful businessman who underwent a dangerous experiment to gain superhuman powers. However, his powers came with a weakness to ionic energy, making him vulnerable to attacks from other ionic-powered beings.

Wonder Man has been a member of several superhero teams, including the Avengers and the West Coast Avengers. He has also had a complicated romantic relationship with Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch. Marvel’s Disney Plus series is expected to delve deep into Wonder Man’s complex history and personality.

Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-NineCommunity) is leading the writing team of the Wonder Man series, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings helmer Destin Daniel Cretton on board as an executive producer. Cretton is also expected to direct an unspecified number of episodes before moving on to the yet-to-be titled Shang-Chi sequel and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
