A fan has spotted an error during the lightsaber duel between Rey and Kylo Ren that was featured in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker D23 Special Look.
The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker footage from D23 raised a lot of questions for fans. The biggest speculation coming from the image of dark side Rey, shown at the end. The footage also shows a battle on the wreckage of the fallen Death Star II between Rey and Kylo Ren, mirroring Anakin and Obi-Wan’s battle on Mustafar.
The footage has only been out for a few days and fans have already discovered a little error during the sequence. Of course, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is still being worked on in the special effects department. But, it is interesting to see what is used as CGI in films, because it can be surprising. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that during Rey and Kylo’s epic lightsaber fight, Kylo Ren’s cape can’t be seen as a shadow on the ground. This is no doubt because the Kylo Ren’s cape is CGI, like Henry Cavill’s Superman cape. You can check out the error in a gif below:
