Netflix Drops Trailer For ‘Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie’

Enter Casey Jones.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie

Netflix has released the first trailer for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the second animated series to come from Nickelodeon, which lasted two seasons on the network. The 2018 series took the franchise in a new direction by bringing back traditional 2D animation and reinventing the iconic characters with new designs.

In 2019, it was announced that Netflix was releasing an animated film that would take place two years after the events of the series finale. Years later and we finally have the first trailer for the animated film, which introduces a new version of Casey Jones. You can check out the trailer below.

What’s Next for the Turtles?

The animated film for Netflix isn’t the only TMNT project we are getting from Paramount in the next few years. The studio is also working on another animated film from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, which is expected to hit theaters next year. Another live-action film reboot is also in the works with SNL‘s Colin Jost penning the script with his brother. Paramount is also taking the franchise to their streaming service with spin-off films focused on TMNT villains.

Here is the synopsis for the most recent film in the Turtles franchise, Out of the Shadows:

Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael are back to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.

Directed by David Green with a script from Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, the 2016 film stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Laura Linney, Stephen Amell, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson, Tyler Perry, Sheamus, Brian Tee, and Gary Anthony Williams.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie will hit Netflix on August 5, 2022. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news on the future of the TMNT franchise, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more original video content in the future!
