Rob Liefeld Wants To See Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine & Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Together

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld wants to see Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth together.

Ever since Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool made its proper debut in 2016, fans have been hoping that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine would join the Rob Liefeld-created character on a cinematic adventure. Unfortunately, after almost two decades of playing the role, Hugh Jackman retired his Wolverine claws in 2017’s Logan, shuttering the dreams of all of those who were hopeful for a crossover. Both Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have maintained their friendship off-screen, specifically on social media, but there’s been no indication that their beloved characters would be appearing on-screen together in the near future.

Rob Liefeld, the man who created Deadpool, is still hopeful that one day both stars and their characters will appear in the same film together. Rob Liefeld expressed his sentiments during’s #QuarantineWatchParty of Deadpool.

“I don’t like to speculate on things that can’t possibly be, but I’m stubborn enough to believe that as the years go by, as we get more distance, that maybe in ten years, that we’ll see [them together], even though I have been told, by Hugh and by Ryan, that he’s moving on, to my face, minds change. Time passes, things change.”

Rob Liefeld’s hopeful wants shouldn’t be discredited as stranger things have happened as it has become quite common for actors to reprise their iconic characters in legacy roles. Recent examples include Patrick Stewart reprising the role of Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: Picard after two decades or Linda Hamilton stepping back into the shoes of Sarah Connor in Terminator: Dark Fate.

While Hugh Jackman was quite forthcoming about leaving the role of Wolverine, time and an abundance of boredom could bring him back to the iconic role, especially when paired against Ryan Reynolds’ hilarious Deadpool. Even an off-shoot appearance of both stars would make any Marvel fans’ day, let alone Rob Liefeld’s day.
