Rob Liefeld Praises Marc Guggenheim’s Work On ‘Prophet’ Script

Rob Liefeld talks about Marc Guggenheim's 'Prophet' script and why he is behind the man's work on it.

Rob Liefeld has praised the work that Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim has done on the script for the upcoming Prophet film.

Rob Liefeld is undoubtedly best known for the creation of characters like Deadpool and Cable but was also one of the founders of Image Comics, alongside others like Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, and Erik Larsen. While with the company, Liefeld launched the Youngblood series which became the flagship comic series for the new company. The series introduced a number of characters, including Prophet who was eventually featured in his own solo series.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim had signed on to write the script for a solo Prophet film with Studio 8. In the comics, the character was experimented on during World War II before being cryogenically frozen and waking up in the future. Now the character will be getting a big-screen treatment and creator Rob Liefeld is all for the script that Marc Guggenheim is writing:

“Prophet is in great shape, we have Marc Guggenheim writing the screenplay. There were a number of writers vying for the job to write the screenplay, and I knew when I met with Marc that he was the guy. Studio 8 was really excited to fit into his schedule — he’s very in demand — and we had a couple conversations, and I’m like, ‘Wow, Marc really gets it, he’s the right guy, I’m honored that he’s even interested.’ He expressed that he was a fan back in the day. I’ve known Marc for about a decade; I was a fan of his comic books that he was writing prior to him taking over the CW Arrow show… He had a great, very, very, I cannot tell you how true and reflective of the comic book what he’s doing [is], but he’s [also] bringing a fresh, Guggenheim kind of couple new little twists in there that are great. So that’s onboard. If that first draft is great, I guess we’ll find a bubble to shoot it in.”
