Concept art always reveals crazy ideas that filmmakers were considering in development and Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame – The Art of the Movie backs this up. In the Avengers art book, one piece of concept art that a member of the Marvel Studios subreddit caught is a bit of a “what if” situation. The Avengers: Endgame concept art features Robert Downey Jr with Doctor Strange’s Cloak of Levitation. Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch is seen in Iron Man armor with the Eye of Agamotto.
Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange didn’t meet until Avengers: Infinity War, however the two became major players in the outcome of the Infinity Saga. Before the two characters met, some worried Robert Downey Jr and Benedict Cumberbatch’s characters were too similar, but the two played off each other nicely in the final Avengers films.
