Robert Pattinson Learned He Was Batman On First Day Shooting ‘Tenet’

Robert Pattinson has revealed that he learned that he had been cast as Batman on the first day of shooting Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, Tenet.

The road to The Batman has been a bit of a rocky one. Originally it was set to be a solo film written, directed by and starring Ben Affleck. Unfortunately sometime after signing on for the role Ben Affleck gradually lost his passion for the role and the project went to director Matt Reeves and the role went to Robert Pattinson. But now we know that Robert Pattinson had a full weekend when he learned that he got the role of Batman.

During a recent interview with Total Film, Robert Pattinson revealed that he learned that he had been cast in the role the first day he was shooting Tenet and described the entire weekend as intense:

“The morning of the first day. It was kind of insane. It was a very, very intense weekend. That was a crazy way to start Chris’ film. [laughs] I think I was doing the screen test, as well, on the Saturday before I started.”

Full plot details on The Batman are being kept under wraps, but we know that the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. Following the Dark Knight during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector, the film will also make use of the hero’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous live-action adaptations. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
