The Batman star Robert Pattinson gets the spotlight in a trio of new stills from Matt Reeves’ take on the Caped Crusader.

The new stills from The Batman arrived shortly before the DC FanDome panel for the film and showed off an interesting look at the new version of the iconic hero. As writer Mattson Tomlin previously mentioned, the film will explore Bruce Wayne’s soul further than ever before – and these stills definitely evoke that typical brooding nature of the Dark Knight. The stills give us a brief glimpse of what to expect from Matt Reeves’ take on Gotham City, implying a dark and grungy version of the legendary mythology fans have adored for decades.

The new stills of Robert Pattinson in The Batman come courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures on Twitter, and show three very different versions of Bruce Wayne across the film. Firstly, we see his civilian persona, and Pattinson looks like he’s not happy to be out in the daylight without his cape and cowl. This new look comes shortly after Matt Reeves revealed the official logo and some stunning art of the hero on Twitter. The second gives us a brief glimpse of the Bat-Cave and the Batmobile. While the third and final still offers us a truly moody vision of the hero, complete with smudged eye make-up which will help conceal his identity under the new cowl. It’s an intriguing set of looks for the new film, and like many fans, we can’t wait to see more. Take a look below.

Plot details for The Batman are being kept under lock and key, but we know that the project will revolve around Robert Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector. The Batman will also feature the hero making use of his detective skills more than what we’ve seen before in previous iterations of the character. It is also expected to be the first installment to a new trilogy starring Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
