Will The Batman face yet another set of delays? Robert Pattinson gives fans yet another disappointing update about when the sequel will start production.
There’s been few films in recent memory that have had as many false starts as The Batman sequel. Rumors and speculation around the project’s production have flooded the internet ever since Robert Pattinson first hit the silver screen as the Dark Knight back in 2022. While the film was originally set to release in October of 2025, suggesting filming was originally planned to start (at the latest), at the end of 2023. But a combination of WGA and SAG strikes, along with Matt Reeves’ delays with the script, have pushed the film all the way back to 2027.
All reports suggest that the sequel to The Batman is set to begin filming this year. Many expected that the film would start production in March, though those ideas were soured when it was announced that Robert Pattinson would be filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey during that time period. This left fans with no information about when cameras will actually start rolling on the long-awaited project.
Robert Pattinson Confirms Production Window For The Batman Sequel
There seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel for The Batman fans. Sadly, that tunnel seems to be stretching all the way to Winter. In a recent chat with Deadline during the promotion of Mickey17, Robert Pattinson confirmed that the sequel is still on track to film during 2025. However, it’s scheduled to start production at the tail end of the year, not the start.
“I think at the end of the year?” Pattinson remarked when asked about the status of filming the sequel. “And I know what it’s about but I can’t tell anyone, but it’s like, it’s very cool. It’s very exciting.”
If Robert Pattinson is accurate in his quote, this gives The Batman sequel a much shorter post-production time than the original. While it’s possible that Matt Reeves is simply so confident in the production that not much post-production is needed, this could also mean that the project may be pushed back even further into 2028. Though, hopefully, the delay fairy won’t hit the production any more than it already has.
The Batman sequel is currently set to release October 1, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe and make sure to stay tuned to our YouTube channel for more content.
