‘Doctor Strange 2’ Early Ticket Sales Top Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman’

The Marvel sequel has come out on top for 2022 so far!

Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness The Batman

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has officially made more money from the first 24 hours of ticket sales than any other movie this year, beating Robert Pattinson’s The Batman for the top spot.

The Benedict Cumberbatch led Marvel sequel will be released next month and ticket sales went live yesterday, April 6. While official numbers have not been revealed, Fandango have announced that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been the best presales performer of 2022 so far, a title previously held by The Batman, which marked Robert Pattinson’s debut as the Caped Crusader.

Additionally, presales for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have been the best of any movie since last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. No Way Home also boasts the best domestic opening of the pandemic. With Multiverse of Madness set to pick up where the Spider-Man movie left off, expectations will remain high for the Doctor Strange sequel’s opening. It shouldn’t have any trouble living up to those expectations though,as Fandango has noted showtimes are already selling out for Benedict Cumberbatch’s second standalone feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ticket sales are still recovering from the effects of the pandemic and both The Batman and Spider-Man: No Way Home helped usher audiences back into theaters. After Robert Pattinson’s first appearance as Batman got 2022 off on the right foot, it looks likely Marvel will now continue that trend with Benedict Cumberbatch’s next appearance as the Master of the Mystic Arts.
