DC Films boss Walter Hamada has revealed that Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is set in a different Earth from the Justice League movie.

During today’s Multiverse 101 DC FanDome panel, Walter Hamada revealed new details about Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, with the DC Films boss mentioning that the highly-anticipated movie is not set in the same universe as the Justice League movie. Instead, The Batman takes place in a new Earth, following Bruce Wayne during the second year of his crime-fighting career.

“There’s one earth of this beginning Justice League and there’s another Earth where there’s this growing Year Two Batman… Matt Reeves can continue to build out his Gotham. Those are things that we can do because we don’t have to worry about how that would impact Aquaman 2 or The Flash, because it’s all just part of the multiverse.”

Production on The Batman is currently on hold due to the ongoing pandemic. The Matt Reeves-directed movie is set to resume production in September, and fans can expect to get a closer look at it during its DC FanDome panel later today.

Plot details for The Batman are being kept under lock and key, but we know that the project will revolve around Robert Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector. The Batman will also feature the hero making use of his detective skills more than what we’ve seen before in previous iterations of the character. It is also expected to be the first installment to a new trilogy starring Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news regarding Matt Reeves, Robert Pattinson and The Batman universe, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content.
