By all accounts, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a pretty easygoing guy. Despite his wrestling past, he is widely considered one of the most humble and kind-hearted movie stars in Hollywood. But someone must have crawled under The Rock’s skin, because his normally-chivalrous attitude just flew out the window, at least for a select few.
Set to film his last week on Fast & Furious 8 (which may or may not be called Fast 8), Johnson jumped onto his Facebook page to praise Universal Studios, the crew and his “amazing” female co-stars. But it wasn’t all compliments, because The Rock also took a moment to chew out some of his fellow male co-stars, going as far as to call them a bunch of “candy asses” for their soft commitment to the action sequel.
The full text can be found below, along with a video from the set with The Rock, in prison attire, throwing a guard up against the wall while Kid Rock’s “You Never Met A Motherfucker Quite Like Me” plays in the background, but Johnson wasn’t afraid to excuse his usually-gracious manners to let some unnamed aforementioned “candy asses” who are too “chicken shit” to do what was required of them in F. Gary Gray’s upcoming film. Whoever didn’t give it their all really got The Rock’s “blood boiling.”
Here’s what Johnson had to say in full:
This is my final week of shooting Fast & Furious 8. There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. Universal Studios Entertainment has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right.
Bottom line is it’ll play great for the movie and fits this Hobbs character that’s embedded in my DNA extremely well. The producer in me is happy about this part. Final week on FAST 8 and I will finish strong.
Johnson ended his rant with an appropriate #ZeroToleranceForCandyAsses. He’s not going to name names, of course, but here’s hoping they now smell what he’s cooking. There’s no messing around when you show up on The Rock’s set, and hopefully they realize what they commit to when they sign onto one of his pictures. There’s a strict No Candy Asses sign bolted on the door; either go big or go home. One would think that’s obvious by now, but apparently a few didn’t get the message — until now.
Fast & Furious 8 (and/or Fast 8) hits theaters on April 14. We’ll have to wait and see how Johnson channels that “No Candy Asses” attitude in the final film until then.
