If it seems like just yesterday you were viewing an exclusive look at Jake Kasdan’s upcoming Jumanji sequel via Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Instagram, that’s because… you were, and yet here we are again a day later with Johnson bringing us our first look at Nick Jonas’s character.
If you’re one of The Rock’s millions (and millions!) of followers on Instagram then you’ve been inundated with Jumanji reveals of everything from characters to behind the scenes shenanigans over the past week or so, and it’s safe to say that it seems to be working with regards to getting fans talking about and, of course, excited for the upcoming film.
Today Johnson shared an image of his character, ‘The Smoldering’ Dr. Bravestone, stood alongside a new reveal in Nick Jonas’s character. The Rock also went on to praise his co-star in the post hailing Jonas as having great positive energy and being very talented, though he didn’t actually get around to revealing a character name, leaving at least some mystery surrounding the part Jonas is set to play in the film.
Officially welcoming my guy @NickJonas to #Jumanji. Great dude, great positive energy and very talented. He's gonna kill this role like I kill things with my bare hands. The jungle awaits. The adventure continues. And ironically the one who sings the most on set is Jack Black ?. #OnLocation #Hawaii #WelcomeToTheFamilyNick #Jumanji ?
Despite how open The Rock has been with sharing behind the scenes looks at Jumanji, plot details have remained largely unknown. The recent casting announcement of four younger stars (Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blain and Morgan Turner), however, seems to have revealed the plot to reportedly be based on four teenagers who play the legendary board game during detention, with the characters of Johnson and his previously revealed co-stars being the avatars representing the teenagers within the game.
You can see the pair in action alongside co-stars Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black when Jumanji hits theaters July 28th, 2017.
