‘Rogue One’ Star Felicity Jones On If Jyn Erso Will Return In ‘Andor’

Is there a New Hope for Jyn Erso's return?

Jyn Erso Felicity Jones Rogue One A Star Wars Story

The second season of Andor is well underway with filming and is set to bring fans right up to the final days before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Felicity Jones, who stars in the film as Jyn Erso, has addressed if she’ll return to the role in the show’s second season.

Jyn Erso was the daughter of scientist Galen Erso, one of the main scientists tasked with working on the Death Star. This, along with her own skills, led to her being recruited by Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor to help steal the plans for the Death Star for the Rebellion in Rogue One. With Andor‘s second season leading up to the final days before their plan takes place, fans wondered if they’ll be seeing Felicity Jones reprise her role as Jyn Erso in the show. However, according to the actress, it’s not likely:

“I’m afraid to say I won’t be, but I still have hope for Jyn Erso at some point to make a comeback.” She told The One Show on BBC One. “But no, sadly I won’t be.”

This response left fans some hope that Felicity Jones might reprise her role as Jyn Erso in some other Star Wars project. After all, the franchise is no stranger to characters crossing between live-action and animation. A prime example is Jyn Erso’s close ally Saw Gerrera. The actress quickly clarified that fans shouldn’t get their hopes up:

“I actually wouldn’t want to repeat any of [my characters],” she added. “It’s so funny — once you’ve sort of done it and you’ve kind of put them to bed, then you’re ready for the next challenge.”

Many fans may be disappointed that such a key member of Cassian Andor’s team from Rogue One won’t be appearing in Andor. However, with as fitting of an end that Felicity Jones’ character got in the film, there’s no need to mess with a good thing. If there was, fans would be expecting The Book of Jyn Erso spin-off any day now!
