Chris Evans may have a bigger role than fans thought! The latest rumor for Avengers: Doomsday teases Captain America may be the key to the story.
It’s basically all but confirmed that Chris Evans is to return as Captain America in Avengers: Doomsday. Even putting the rumor mill aside, it’s not likely that someone who just made a cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine would sit out when the rest of the original Avengers cast is coming back together. The big question on everyone’s mind has simply been what role he’ll play in the film.
There have been two main camps when it comes to the role Chris Evans will play in Avengers: Doomsday. The first is that he’ll be playing an evil version of Captain America recruited by doom to trick the Avengers of the Sacred Timeline. The second is that old man Steve Rogers will be serving as a mentor to the new team of Avengers to guide them through this brave new world.
Chris Evans Is The Key To Avengers: Doomsday
Yet it seems the true answer is one that nobody was able to guess. The latest rumor from MyTimeToShineHello reveals that Chris Evans may play the most important role in Avengers: Doomsday outside of Robert Downey Jr. The leaker reveals that Captain America’s trip back in time at the end of Avengers: Endgame is the cause of the incursions, and now Doctor Doom is out for blood.
Given how much fans complained about The Russo Brothers breaking their own time travel rules with Captain America’s trip back in time, it makes sense that the team would want to rectify that plot point in Avengers: Doomsday. This also suggests that one of the main storylines of the film will be a team of Avengers, likely the Thunderbolts, protecting Chris Evans’ elderly hero from Doctor Doom’s forces.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
