A week after the shocking revelation that directing duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were relieved of their directing duties on the Han Solo spinoff comes a new rumor that Jabba the Hutt is set to appear in the upcoming film.
The spinoff will dial the clock back even further than Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as it chronicles the young smuggler, played by Alden Ehrenreich, from years of 18-24 in his life and will include meeting Chewbacca (Joonas Suotomo) and finding the Millennium Falcon.
According to The HashTag Show, a source close to the production says Jabba The Hutt plays a crucial role in the plot and will remain so even with Ron Howard taking over as director. Han’s history with the gangster Hutt is said to play out in the new film and Jabba himself is said to be partially a practical effect and partially CGI which could be very much like the all-knowing octopus-like Rogue One creature Bor Gullet.
The Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story has been written by Lawrence Kasdan and son Jon Kasdan. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo along with Joonas Suotomo as Chewbacca and Donald Glover as the young Lando Calrissian. The cast also includes Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams, and Ian Kenny.
The Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story is currently slated for release on May 25, 2018.
