Is The Punisher getting a new logo in Spider-Man: Brand New Day? A rumor suggests that the iconic skull is getting an overhaul in the upcoming film.
While The Punisher has always been a divisive character, he’s become even more divisive in recent years due to ongoing tensions in the real world. This has led Marvel to try to distance the vigilante from his iconic skull logo on multiple occasions, even if they never really stuck. This has left many to wonder how they’ll handle it in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Fans seem to finally have their answer thanks to a recent rumor from VariableLace. The scooper seems to reveal that The Punisher won’t have a blatant skull on his chest. Rather, the logo will be implied through painted ammo pouches on the vigilante’s belt, coming out similar to the 2014 design for the character by Mitch Gerad.
Seems they were kinda going for that but missed the mark

Why Marvel Changed The Punisher’s Logo
Of course, it makes sense that such a controversial logo would be changed for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Even ignoring the real-world controversies surrounding it, China has very strict rules when it comes any representation of a skull in media. If Marvel wants the project to release in that region, it was inevitable that The Punisher would have to go through a design change.
It’s more likely than not that The Punisher will never end up donning his iconic skull logo again on the silver screen. While it’s certainly a shame for long-time fans of the character, Frank wouldn’t have a shot of appearing in a project like Spider-Man: Brand New Day without the compromise. So it’s, sadly, something fans will simply have to deal with.
