The news sparked major buzz, with fans wondering how director Ryan Coogler managed to bring an acting legend on board at a time when the franchise is arguably at its lowest point.
However, it seems the deal isn’t finalized quite yet. While speaking on the Nightcap podcast, Ryan Coogler revealed that Denzel Washington’s Black Panther 3 casting is far from a done deal. However, the director would go on to emphasize that as long as Washington had a will to join the MCU, the director would find some way, somehow, to bring him into the upcoming project.
“I’m dying to work with Denzel and I’m hoping we can make that happen,” Coogler explained. “I got every intention of working with him in that movie and as long as he’s interested, it’s going to happen. He’s a living legend, man, and a great mentor to so many of us. He’s all about looking out for us.”
What Is Black Panther 3’s Release Date?
Denzel Washington’s status in the cast isn’t the only news that may be coming soon relating to Black Panther 3. Ryan Coogler was also asked about how long fans will have to wait to see the continuation of one of the MCU’s most popular franchises. While the director didn’t have a specific release date to give, he did tease that it was “Not long” until fans would see the World of Wakanda again on the silver screen.
Given the MCU is currently in the midst of wrapping up its multiverse saga, some fans might think Black Panther 3 won’t come out until at least late 2027. However, it’s important to note that the studio’s slate of films is mostly barren beyond Avengers: Doomsday. It’s possible that Ryan Coogler has been gearing up to start filming relatively soon, with the director eyeing a release sometime in 2027. Though that is all speculation.
