Ryan Reynolds shared an alternate take of a Deadpool scene that would have featured the Kenny Rogers song “The Gambler“.

In the wake of Kenny Rogers’ death, Ryan Reynolds decided to share a scene from Deadpool that would have featured the Merc with a Mouth singing one of his tunes. In Deadpool, the titular character is duking it out with Ajax (or technically, Francis) on the highway. In this scene, as Deadpool is beating the villain to a pulp, Ryan Reynolds was originally going to be singing the Kenny Rogers song “The Gambler“. Unfortunately, Ryan Reynolds singing the Kenny Rogers song didn’t make Deadpool’s final cut, but the star did take to Instagram to share the alternate scene.

You can check out a video of the scene below.

In the video, the star discusses how he sang the song by sitting on a couch, recording to the picture. In the clip, you also get to see a VFX-free version of Deadpool as the Kenny Rogers song was recorded early in the film’s post-production.

The theatrical version of the scene has Deadpool discussing how his character hails from Regina, Saskatchewan, while he beats Ajax. The dialogue in the scene gives a bit of context to Deadpool’s Canadian origins, so it makes sense why the Kenny Rogers song wasn’t implemented in the final, theatrical version of the film.
