‘Deadpool’ Star Ryan Reynolds Denies ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Rumors Again

When will Deadpool return?

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has once again denied the rumors that he’s showing up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be one of Marvel Studios’ most star-studded and easter egg-heavy films. Taking a page out of Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s book, the Benedict Cumberbatch sequel will be riddled with cameos from across the multiverse, which means anyone and anybody can be retconned to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Rumors have suggested that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will be folded into the MCU in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. Reynolds recently denied those claims in a written interview but a new video from the same outlet (Variety) provides some more info on the star’s denial.

In the video you can see Ryan Reynolds bumbling his way through the words, almost struggling to deny that he’s not in the Doctor Strange sequel. Unlike Tom Holland, Reynolds has a history of keeping secrets and teases at bay, so this is surprising behavior from the Merc With A Mouth.

Folding Deadpool into the MCU via Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a genius move as it will allow the character’s full debut in Deadpool 3 to feel less jarring. Plus, it has been a while since we last saw the anti-hero, so it’d be nice to revisit him before his upcoming threequel.

Here is the synopsis for the next MCU film:

The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the upcoming movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.
