Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds praised John Cena’s Peacemaker for this surprise cameo.
Ryan Reynolds is one of Hollywood’s most popular leading men. After a few years of disappointing films that many critics and audiences believed weren’t worthy of his talents, the actor hit the jackpot in 2016 with his first standalone film as Wade Wilson AKA Deadpool. The film went on to become one of the biggest R-Rated films of all-time, and cemented the character as a household name beyond comic book fans.
Now, similar to Ryan Reynolds’ role as Deadpool, John Cena has found a role that critics and audiences both agree is perfectly suited for his talents as an actor. As Christopher Smith AKA Peacemaker, we were first introduced to him as part of Task Force X in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, where his over-the-top jingoistic and bro-y personality stood out alongside acclaimed performers like Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Idris Elba as Bloodsport.
Now, John Cena is headlining his own HBO Max series in Peacemaker, where we pick up where we last saw the character following the events of The Suicide Squad. The series has been receiving much critical acclaim, and many in the industry have also sang its praises, including Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds. On his official Twitter, the actor shared a photo from an episode of the series, in which we see John Cena’s Peacemaker standing in front of what has been confirmed to be a bottle of Aviation Gin, which the actor founded along with Christian Krogstad:
James Gunn promptly confirmed Ryan Reynolds’ discovery that the bottle is in fact Aviation Gin:
John Cena also responded to Ryan Reynolds’ tweet, sharing some respect to the Deadpool actor as a fellow passionate cosplayer:
Here is the synopsis for John Cena’s HBO Max original series, Peacemaker:
PEACEMAKER explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it!
Peacemaker was created by James Gunn, who wrote all the episodes and directed five of them. The first season of the HBO Max series will consist of eight episodes, with Brad Anderson, Jody Hill, and Rosemary Rodriguez also directing episodes. Clint Mansell and Kevin Kiner also composed the DC show’s score.
Peacemaker stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.
Peacemaker is now streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes dropping every Thursday. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the John Cena series and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
