Is Deadpool finally making his return? Ryan Reynolds speaks out on the recent rumors that he’s making an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.
There’s been a lot of chatter in recent weeks about Deadpool’s role in Avengers: Doomsday. This is because many of the major Hollywood trades have seemingly confirmed that Ryan Reynolds would be making his return as the iconic Merc with a Mouth in the film. It’s a report that didn’t surprise most people, given Deadpool has become one of the most popular characters in the entire franchise.
However, it is important to note that neither Disney nor Ryan Reynolds have confirmed that Deadpool will be making his return in Avengers: Doomsday. In fact, Reynolds himself recently spoke on the possibility in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. When asked about the reports, the actor insisted that he hasn’t even stepped foot on the film’s set- let alone acted in it!
“There’s four that I’ve got in there,” Reynolds joked when asked about potential John Candy Easter Eggs in Avengers: Doomsday, an element infamously present in the previous Deadpool films. “Of course, I’ve written them all at home in my PJs, and nobody’s seen ’em nor have I stepped foot on set. But, yeah, that’s about as far as I’ll go on that one.”
Is Ryan Reynolds In Avengers: Doomsday?
Much like the renowned Magic 8 ball, all signs point to yes when it comes to Deadpool appearing in Avengers: Doomsday. Ryan Reynolds already teased his return in multiple aspects of Deadpool and Wolverine. And while the film has gone through some seismic creative and casting shifts since its original incarnation, it’s likely most of those plans are still in place.
Then again, also like a Magic 8 ball, it’s possible this guess is completely wrong. Deadpool is one of Marvel’s biggest characters, yes, but that may be exactly why he’s not in Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel may be saving Ryan Reynolds’ return for a project like Secret Wars, one where he can get a starring role as one of the franchise’s faces instead of just another face in the crowd of MCU heroes.
