A new adventure awaits!

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is set to make a comeback in the upcoming Deadpool 3, much to the excitement of Marvel Cinematic Universe fans. However, Ryan Reynolds has promised that his return will not tamper with the timeline of the 20th Century Studios-produced Marvel movies, meaning his character arc from 2000’s X-Men to 2017’s Logan is safe.

During an interview with ET Canada, Ryan Reynolds expressed his excitement about teaming up with Hugh Jackman for the Deadpool project. He also revealed that he had been pestering Jackman for years to come back as Wolverine.

“We’ve wanted to do this for decades…it’s weirdly the perfect time. I never stopped [trying to get him to come back as Wolverine]. I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I believe in timing, as much as hard work and luck and all those intersections that are supposed to meet. Timing’s the big one. I think he was ready. I think he was excited,” Reynolds shared.

The Deadpool franchise has always been known for its irreverent take on superheroes, and it seems that Hugh Jackman’s will be no exception. According to Reynolds, the pitch they made to Jackman was enough of a divergence from the character he knows and the one he left behind, giving him something completely new to play and something he’s really excited to do.

The first two Deadpool movies were produced by 20th Century Fox before the studio’s acquisition by The Walt Disney Company. Deadpool 3 is being written as the first movie in the series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Who else is attached to the Deadpool threequel?

Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3 after working with Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project. The upcoming Marvel Studios project also marks a reunion between Levy and Hugh Jackman as the two worked together on Real Steel.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing the Deadpool 3 script after penning the first two installments in the series. The Molyneux sisters worked on a previous draft of the project.

Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
