Kevin Feige talked a bit more about the next Deadpool film starring Ryan Reynolds.
Marvel Studios is inheriting the Deadpool franchise following the Disney-Fox merger, and instead of rebooting, the studio is continuing with Ryan Reynolds. Marvel Studios has brought back fan favorites such as J.K. Simmons’ J. Jonah Jameson and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil as new versions, but the next Deadpool film appears to be a direct sequel to what we’ve gotten with Fox.
The third film is in active development with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick penning the script and Shawn Levy set to direct. Given Deadpool’s fourth-wall-breaking nature, it makes sense how the Merc with a Mouth could enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe without a reboot by him simply acknowledging it.
Kevin Feige Explains Marvel’s Approach
Deadpool 3 was missing from Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con presentation over the weekend, but news on the studios’ first R-rated venture could be coming at D23 in September. As we wait for a major update from Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige shared with The Hollywood Reporter that they are looking to do something they’ve done with past MCU threequels:
“How do we elevate it in the way we’ve been able to with Civil War, and Infinity War and Ragnarok? It’s very fun to be in the world of the Ryan Reynolds show.”
Here is the synopsis for the previous film, Deadpool 2:
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
Directed by David Leitch from a script written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jack Kesy.
Deadpool 2 is available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the upcoming sequel from Marvel Studios, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content.
