David F. Sandberg has made another social media post using his Shazam action figure and this time it comes with a dirtier sense of humor.
Filmmakers, now more than ever, seem to be extra careful about what they post on social media. When you’re the director of a family film, especially one in the DC Extended Universe, you’d think that you might sanitize what you post online and whatnot, but that isn’t the case for Shazam! director David F. Sandberg. Fans who have been following him on social media for years get his sense of humor and in a new Instagram post, he shows that his sense of humor remains uncompromised.
Sandberg has shown off his toy collection before and recently he’s been posting some hilarious images with his Shazam action figure. It may not be a toy featuring the star of the upcoming film Zachary Levi, but that doesn’t make the image any less hilarious. Check out the post from Sandberg below.
It’s safe to say that if you follow Sandberg on social media, despite his successful career in the horror genre, Shazam! seems to be the entry in his filmography that most reflects his actual personality. Much like 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy brought a much-needed irreverent sense of humor to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Shazam! seems to be the bright, fun adventure that fans need before heading to the theater to see the much-darker Joker film, which is set to release 6 months after Shazam! hits theaters.

Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand and Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana. Here’s the official synopsis:
“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”
Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
