The wait may finally be over! Sandman actor Thomas Haden Church has heard talks of Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi reuniting for Spider-Man 4.
Fans of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy know the tragic tale behind Tobey Maguire’s fourth outing as the webhead. After having been unable to find a satisfactory script for the film, Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 was canceled by Sony for not meeting its deadline, leading to Maguire being recast in favor of Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man. However, according to Sandman actor Thomas Haden Church, the wait for Spider-Man 4 may soon be over, and he wants in:
“There’s always been some kind of…I’ve heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [Spider-Man movie] with Tobey [Maguire],” Church explained. “[If] that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo.”
As much as fans may wish this to be true, this wouldn’t be the first fake rumor about Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire reuniting for Spider-Man 4. While it is possible Thomas Haden Church has an inside scoop due to playing Sandman in Spider-Man 3, it’s equally as possible he got fooled by another rumor online. However, with the Spider-Verse being more popular than ever, it’s not something that can be entirely ruled out.
What’s next for Spider-Man?
What does the future hold for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker? The success of Spider-Man: No Way Home has opened up a world of possibilities for the fan-favorite Marvel character. The movie ends with Peter erasing himself from the memories of his loved ones in order to protect them from his enemies. This sets up an interesting dynamic for future Spider-Man movies, as Peter will have to navigate a world in which he is not known as Spider-Man.
Rumor has it that Tom Holland has signed on for multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances after Spider-Man: No Way Home. The future of the Spider-Man series is currently unclear, but it is likely that Marvel will continue to explore the multiverse concept that was introduced in No Way Home.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
