Is Scorpion actually Venom? Michael Mando teases that some surprising developments may come for his character during the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
After nearly a decade of waiting, Michael Mando is finally making his return as Scorpion in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, this doesn’t mean that fans are without their worries. The film is jam-packed with characters, from heroes like Hulk and The Punisher, to rumored villains like Mister Negative and Tombstone. This not to mention Venom, a long-awaited addition to the franchise teased all the way back in No Way Home!
Though it seems as if Spider-Man: Brand New Day may be mixing and matching some of those roles. Michael Mando recently took to his Instagram story to share some new details about Scorpion. One of which that was lost alongside speculation about Venom was, seemingly, confirmation that he would be donning the character’s classic bright green costume during the events of the film.

Will Scorpion Become Venom In Brand New Day?
Yet Scorpion may be trading out that classic green for black later in the film. In another post to his story, Michael Mando showed off an image of the character with the Venom symbiote, which came from a brief (albeit iconic) take on the character. While it could simply be art to hype up his role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it could also suggest a new origin for the symbiote in the MCU.

While it’s not likely that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will retcon the symbiote being an alien, it’s possible that the film has Scorpion be the first host instead of Eddie Brock. This would likely be done at the behest of Sony, who has been outwardly stingy about Marvel Studios using certain Spider-Man villains in the MCU. Though regardless of what this tease means, it’s certain that fans of the character are in for one heck of a treat.
