Secret Invasion is set to bring Daenerys Targaryen into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke portraying the Skrull G’iah. During the global press conference for the Disney Plus series, Clarke revealed what attracted her to the Marvel universe in the first place.
Premiering on June 21, 2023, Secret Invasion is expected to bring together talent new and old from across the MCU to tell a political thriller revolving around the Skrull’s invasion of Earth. One of these fresh faces is Game of Thrones breakout Emilia Clarke, who portrays the Skrull G’iah, the daughter of Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos. When asked by she decided to join the MCU, Clarke revealed it was the sheer talent on display:
“All the people sitting right here,” Clarke explained. “Like, literally. Who on Earth would ever not want to be sitting here with this? With these – With all of these incredible people? It’s like, even just a single one of these people on their own is enough. Altogether, it’s completely undeniable. So yeah, that’s why.”
Given the star power that was present in Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke must have felt right at home in the MCU among household names like Samuel L. Jackson and Don Cheadle. Luckily for fans, it seems as though Clarke feels at home in the Marvel family, potentially hinting at a role for G’iah beyond Secret Invasion.
