Is Thunderbolts eyeing another The Walking Dead veteran? A new report suggests Marvel Studios may already have an offer out to replace Steven Yeun as The Sentry.
Earlier this month it was announced that Steven Yeun would be dropping out of Thunderbolts due to scheduling conflicts caused by strike-based delays. With the project set to start filming in just a few months, Marvel Studios has been quick in trying to find a replacement, with the most recent report by Hollywood insider DanielRPK and the Twitter account “rDCEULeaks” suggesting fellow The Walking Dead alum Austin Abrams has been offered the role.
While Austin Abrams is best known for his role as Ron Anderson in The Walking Dead, his work in projects like Do Revenge and Euphoria proves he has the range to tackle the complicated anti-hero known as The Sentry. While it’s a shame Steven Yeun will be missing out on Thunderbolts, it seems as though Marvel Studios has found a more than suitable replacement.
Who is attached to the Thunderbolts movie?
During Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con presentation in July, it was revealed that Jake Schreier would direct the upcoming Thunderbolts project. Eric Pearson, the writer for Black Widow, had previously written a draft of the script before being replaced by Lee Sung Jin.
Thunderbolts features a star-studded cast, including Julia Louis-Dreyfuss as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as the Ghost, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes and Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross. Ayo Edebir and Steven Yeun are also on board in undisclosed roles.
Thunderbolts is currently set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
