Is Shang-Chi joining the X-Men? Simu Liu teases that he may share scenes with one of the franchise’s biggest stars in a new BTS photo for Avengers: Doomsday.
Despite production on Avengers: Doomsday having been in full gear for quite some months now, Marvel has kept a rather tight lid on plot details. Most leaks seem to focus on the role of the X-Men in the movie, and the only true BTS photo that’s been released suggests Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi may be taking a trip over to Wakanda.
Yet now it seems that blocks are slowly falling into place regarding who might be sharing scenes with who. Simu Liu recently shared a BTS photo of himself and a few others clearly training for the production of Avengers: Doomsday. The image shows that the Shang-Chi star is working out alongside none other than the X-Men’s leading man: James Marsden, who played Cyclops in the original 2000s films.

Will The Avengers Fight The X-Men?
To be fair and balanced, this BTS photo doesn’t guarantee anything. It’s possible that James Marsden and Simu Liu simply became friends on the set of Avengers: Doomsday, so they decided to work out together. There’s no guarantee that this means Shang-Chi will be teaming up with (or fighting) the original X-Men directly in Avengers: Doomsday.
However, given how iconic the shot is of Cyclops leading the charge against a team of Avengers, it wouldn’t be shocking if James Marsden’s hero led a clash against Captain America’s new team in Avengers: Doomsday. If that is true, hopefully Marvel doesn’t get too upset at Simu Liu for posting the BTS photo. Though it’s not exactly like they’re giving him a Shang-Chi sequel to cancel!
