‘Shang-Chi’: Xialing Actress On Post-Credits Scene & MCU Future

We want more Xialing ASAP.

Xu Xialing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings MCU

Xu Xialing actress Meng’er Zhang opened up about her post-credits scene in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as well as her future in the MCU.

Spoilers ahead for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is expected to make a big splash at the box office this weekend. Fans who have already seen it absolutely adore the film and can’t stop singing its praises, with one of the biggest compliments being the Marvel project’s various performances. Shang-Chi stars heavyweights like Tony Leung and Ben Kingsley who have been unanimously praised for their performances. One character who goes toe-to-toe against them and has quickly emerged as a fan favorite is Meng’er Zhang’s Xu Xialing, Shang-Chi’s sister.

Xialing’s story is relative to Shang-Chi’s, as both are trying to find themselves and move on from their somewhat turbulent childhood. By the end of the film, Xialing takes control of the Ten Rings organization, which first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first film: Iron Man.

In a recent chat with The Direct, Meng’er Zhang opened up about the Shang-Chi post-credits which sees Xialing assuming the role as the leader of the Ten Rings. Zhang took the time to discuss how she’s excited for the character’s future in the MCU.

“I’m very excited for her… I think she is like her father in many ways. She loves power, and she’s such a tough, strong woman.”

By the end of the film, Xialing is one of the most powerful leaders on Earth who commands considerable clout. This makes her poised to be one of the MCU’s major players going forward. Zhang remained coy about her future in the MCU, but if we’re going by the post-credits sequence, it’s certain that she’ll be popping up in future films.

“I don’t know. I really want to know. But you know, anything’s possible. This is the Marvel Universe.”

It’s hard not to imagine Xialing popping up in future MCU projects, especially because her brother is set to be one of the universe’s most prominent heroes. It’s unclear if a Shang-Chi sequel is currently in the works, but we wouldn’t be surprised if we got an announcement in the coming weeks should the film be the success Marvel expects.
