Star Wars Skywalker Saga Disney Lucasfilm

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Damon Lindelof are teaming up for a new Star Wars movie.

Deadline has revealed that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has signed up to direct a Star Wars movie for Disney and Lucasfilm. Damon Lindelof is co-writing the film’s script, but the identity of his partner is currently unknown. The project is far off as it’s still being written at press time.

The Rise of Skywalker is the last Star Wars feature to open in theaters. The J.J. Abrams-directed feature made its debut in December 2019 and earned $1.074 billion at the worldwide box office, a smaller than its predecessors The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. It also received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.

A New Hope…

The recipient of two Oscars, seven Emmys and a Knight International Journalism Award, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is best known for her work on the documentary shorts Saving Face and A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness. She recently directed two episodes of the Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel starring Iman Vellani.

Damon Lindelof is the man behind several critically-acclaimed television shows, including ABC’s Lost to the HBO dramas The Leftovers and Watchmen. In terms of films, Lindelof’s resume features Cowboys & Aliens, Prometheus, Star Trek Into Darkness and World War Z.
