Shawn Levy is set to send the multiverse crashing down on Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3. The director finally breaks his silence on the possibility of following up the project by directing Avengers: Secret Wars.
With the Multiverse Saga largely being underwhelming for fans, the pressure is on for Avengers: Secret Wars to bring a satisfying ending. Dozens of directors from Sam Raimi to Alfonso Cuaron have been rumored to direct the film, though perhaps none more than Shawn Levy. He seems an obvious choice given Deadpool 3 is seemingly set to involve the multiverse so heavily with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. When asked about the possibility, Levy admits he’s heard the rumors, but not much more:
“I’ve read those rumors,” Levy told ET Canada. “And that’s all I’m going to say.”
In truth, it’s unlikely even Shawn Levy knows if he’s directing Avengers: Secret Wars. With other MCU projects like Fantastic Four struggling to find a foothold and Disney’s CEO Bob Iger restructuring their approach to Marvel and Star Wars projects, they likely haven’t cemented a director for the project. Though it certainly seems like Levy is in the running following his work on Deadpool 3.
Who else is attached to the Deadpool threequel?
Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3 after working with Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project. The upcoming Marvel Studios project also marks a reunion between Levy and Hugh Jackman as the two worked together on Real Steel.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing the Deadpool 3 script after penning the first two installments in the series. The Molyneux sisters worked on a previous draft of the project.
