The wheels are finally moving again in a galaxy far, far away! A long-awaited update reveals that Shawn Levy has officially found a writer for his upcoming Star Wars flick.
With how much focus there’s been on Deadpool and Wolverine these past few months, the fact that Shawn Levy is directing a Star Wars film has slipped the collective consciousness. The director was first brought on to the project in 2022, though production had mostly stalled given his commitment to other high profile projects.
Fans wouldn’t hear about his Star Wars project again until 2023. When speaking on the film in an interview with Variety, Shawn Levy explained that the film didn’t have a mandate to be anything more than the movie he wanted to make. However, due to the Hollywood strikes, production on the project had been delayed.
Shawn Levy Finds His Star Wars Writer
Luckily, it seems the delays have all been cleared up. In news first broken by insider Jeff Sneider, it’s now been officially confirmed that Jonathan Tropper will pen the script for Shawn Levy’s Star Wars film. Tropper is a long time collaborate of Levy’s, having previously written both The Adam Project and This Is Where I Leave You.
Not much else is known about the timeline of the Star Wars film. It’s unclear how far Jonathan Tropper is to developing the project with Shawn Levy, or if the two only recently agreed to begin their collaborations. However, given how recently Deadpool and Wolverine wrapped, it’s not likely this film will release anytime soon.
